Event-driven commerce platform
A resilient order platform designed to handle demand spikes without coupling business-critical services.
The challenge
A growing commerce operation needed to separate order processing, inventory, and notifications while retaining clear operational visibility.
The approach
We designed an event-driven platform with explicit domain boundaries, durable messaging, and end-to-end telemetry.
Architecture
- 1API gateway validates and routes incoming traffic
- 2Domain services publish events through Kafka
- 3PostgreSQL stores transactional data per service
- 4OpenTelemetry connects traces, metrics, and logs
Lessons learned
Business-level observability must be designed alongside messaging. Broker health alone cannot explain where a customer workflow stopped.
